Student Examples
Originally from midcoast Maine, Leslie Shershow has lived all over the country pursuing her passion as an artist, jeweler, teacher, and student. She received her BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and her MFA from San Diego State University.
Leslie has held teaching positions at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, San Diego State University, and New Mexico State University. Some of her awards include the New York City Jewelry Week One for the Future Award, a SNAG Educational Endowment Scholarship, and inclusion in the Haystack Open Studio Residency. Most recently, her work was selected for 2021/2022 Schmuck (German for jewelry) Exhibition in Munich, Germany. Leslie has exhibited her work nationally and internationally, participating in exhibitions at Galerie Marzee, Sienna Gallery, Gallery Loupe, Alliages, and during the Society of North American Goldsmith’s conference. She is an active participant in the art jewelry field, implementing virtual curatorial and personal projects, such as the Jewelry Generator (www.jewelrygenerator.com), and Self-Medicated Exhibition (www.selfmedicatedexhibition.com). Currently, she is curating and organizing a group exhibition with Jessica Anderson, titled Hearts + Flowers, on view at Brooklyn Metal Works, Fall 2021.
Through the use of experimental techniques, bright colors, luminescence, and iconic forms, Leslie’s wearable work explores themes of nostalgia, longing, kitsch, memory, and the souvenir.
